CANINE ASSOCIATION UGANDA

Our Journey

The history and milestones of the Canine Association of Uganda.

2010 – Foundation of CAU

A dedicated group of passionate dog breeders and enthusiasts in Kampala gathered to establish the first unified kennel club in Uganda, aiming to bring structure to local breeding practices.

2014 – First National Studbook

CAU officially launched the national pedigree registry, beginning with foundational registrations for German Shepherds and Rottweilers imported from recognized foreign registries.

2016 – Inaugural Dog Show

The first CAU Open Dog Show was held, bringing together over 50 exhibitors and laying the groundwork for competitive canine sports in the country.

2019 – FCI Contract Partnership

A monumental achievement for Ugandan cynology: CAU was officially accepted as a contract partner by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale, aligning our standards with the global community.

2022 – Mandatory Microchipping

Implementation of a modern, centralized database requiring microchips for all new litter registrations to ensure unalterable identification.

Present – Growing Community

Today, CAU oversees multiple affiliated breed clubs, hosts the annual National Dog Show in Munyonyo, and continues to educate the public on canine welfare.
