About Provisional Registration
The Provisional Registry begins with positively assessed dogs that have no existing documentation. These dogs are evaluated and registered by CAU, establishing the first generation of a traceable pedigree.
Once a dog is entered into the Provisional Registry, their progeny is also registered — each generation building on the last. This process continues over four generations, with the offspring of each generation progressively documented. The fifth generation of progeny then becomes eligible to enter the Purebred Registry, completing the transition from provisional to full purebred recognition.

GEN 1
Foundation Dog
Positively assessed dog with no prior documents. Entered into the Provisional Registry.
GEN 2
First Progeny
Offspring of a registered provisional dog. Registered and tracked by CAU.
GEN 3
Second Progeny
Pedigree lineage continues to build through documented breeding.
GEN 4
Third Progeny
Fourth generation of traceable lineage under the Provisional Registry.
GEN 5
Purebred Eligible
The fifth generation progeny qualifies to enter the full Purebred Registry.
